Scoping Study: Strengthening Linkages between Industry, the Productive Sector and Higher Education Institutions in Africa

The Association of African Universities (AAU) in partnership with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) has recently finalised a report on a new study investigating the institutional capacity of African universities and higher education institutions to develop and strengthen linkages with industry and the productive sector.

The report is part of the AAU-AUCC project “Strengthening Higher Education Stakeholder Relations in Africa” (SHESRA), with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency.

The objective of the study, which had 133 participating universities across Africa, was to determine what interface structures, policies, positions, incentives, and funds are currently in place (or lacking) and what services or interventions African institutions gauge to be most important for strengthening their efforts in building linkages with the productive sector.
